Metta is a simple and sturdy meditation, practicable anytime, anywhere. It activates our own self-love, allowing us to release negative emotions, and is an especially potent antidote to anger. Once fortified, we can connect to the lovingkindness that binds us to all living things. Traditionally, metta practice is done in phases, starting with ourselves, then radiating outward. Do as many or few of these steps as feel right to you.
